Karen Steen, Board Member (Board Term 2025-2028) Mrs. Karen Steen moved to the Festival Foothills community in 2019. She hails from Iowa, earned her Bachelor's degree in Missouri, and has been in education ever since in Missouri, Nevada, Arkansas and Arizona, earning two education-related Master's degrees along the way. One in Curriculum and Instruction and one in Educational Leadership. In 2019, she and her husband, also an educator, chose Arizona as their retirement destination. Karen has remained active in education as a substitute teacher, an online English teacher/grader and as a health coach. She volunteers in the nursery at her church, serves on the Board for The Friends of Surprise Libraries, and for Mountain View Hospice. Her hobbies include reading, writing, watching Royals Baseball, visiting family throughout the United States and adventuring with her husband and dog.
