Donate to WUSD schools and receive a tax credit of up to $400 from the State of Arizona!

    WHY DONATE:
Reclaim your Tax dollars:  Arizona tax law (ARS §43-1089.01) allows taxpayers to take a tax credit up to $200 for individuals OR $400 for married couples when you donate directly to a public school. Tax credit donations are taken directly off what you owe.  If there is any leftover you may carry it forward for up to 5 years.     Tax credit donations are used for extracurricular school-sponsored activities that supplement the educational programs of the school.  You may choose which activity you want to support or you can donate to a general tax credit account. New in 2019, tax credit donations can be used for items such as consumable health care supplies, playground equipment and shade structures.  Donations can also be used for capital items such as athletic equipment and supplies as well as computer software. So not only can you reduce your overall tax bill, you can help contribute to the education and wellbeing of children in your community! It’s a win-win! AZ Tax Credit

Support our Students:  Support WUSD schools with tax dollars owed.  Your tax credit donation will be used to provide additional support and learning opportunities for our students.  The need for your support through the Tax Credit Program is critical: funding for schools in the state of Arizona ranks as one of the lowest across our great nation. The past few years, the funding levels have dropped even more, while costs continue to rise. Because of that, programs such as clubs, tutoring, character development, and sports would not be possible without your support through the Tax Credit Program. Your donation makes a big difference in the programs we are able to offer our students.

Wickenburg USD invites you to participate in the Tax Credit Program –100% of your donation goes directly to the program of your choice. We appreciate your support and are dedicated to spending your tax dollars responsibly. Thank you.

  • What is a tax credit?

School Tax Credit is not a tax-deductible contribution. It’s much better than that! Tax Credit is a portion of your state income tax that you may pay directly to the Public School Of Your Choice rather than to Arizona Department of Revenue. In turn, the School is bound to spend tax credit monies for student Extracurricular Activities and/or Character Education Programs. The credit allowed is in lieu of any deduction pursuant to section 170 of the internal revenue code for charitable contributions, which would also be taken for Arizona taxes purposes. In other words, you cannot take the deduction on your state income tax return and the credit as well. Tax credit donations are non refundable.

    What is an Extracurricular Activity?

A.R.S. §15-342.24 requires each district school board to determine which activities are extra-curricular and what fees will be levied. It is important to note that a least some monetary amount must be levied to participate in order for the credit to be available. Extracurricular activity means a school sponsored activity that requires enrolled students to pay a fee in order to participate, such as but not limited to band uniforms, equipment or uniforms for varsity athletic activities, and scientific lab materials. A new change in law states: In state or out-of state trips that are solely for competitive events are considered extracurricular. Extracurricular activity does not include any trips or events that are recreational, amusement, or tourist activities. Generally, any educational or recreational activities that supplement the educational program of the school are extracurricular activities.
