A Literacy Committee was formed to review curriculum options. After a thorough review, the committee identified Into Reading as the most comprehensive program. Into Reading was adopted for use during the 2025-26 school year. Teachers received training prior to the start of the year and have access to a variety of online professional development supports.

Title I School-Wide Program
Hassayampa Elementary School is a school-wide Title I school, and all students are eligible to received Title I services. A school with a Title I Schoolwide Program, which is primarily addressed in Section 1114 of Title I, Part A, is one that receives Part A funds “to upgrade the entire educational program of a school that serves an eligible school attendance area in which not less than 40 percent of the children are from low-income families, or not less than 40 percent of the children enrolled in the school are from such families.” The focus of a Schoolwide Program is Comprehensive Schoolwide Reform to ensure all students, especially those considered most academically at-risk, are able to attain academic proficiency based upon state academic standards.
At Hassayampa, we staff two certified Reading Specialists and two Title 1 paraprofessionals to work with students to improve reading skills. To learn more about the reading support offered at Hassayampa, please contact either Ms. Henneman or Ms. Griswold or your child's teacher.
