Graduating Seniors

  • Graduation is more than just a ceremony for our seniors at the end of the year. There are many exciting events and opportunities to capture memories during this milestone event in your student’s life. Please use this page to stay informed about all the important details surrounding the graduation season.  All dates and times are subject to change depending on COVID status.  If they need to change notice will be sent out.

     Class of 2021

Dear Wickenburg High School Graduates and Parents/Guardians:

Congratulations!  After countless hours of hard work and commitment, you are just a few short weeks from receiving your high school diploma.  We look forward to celebrating this proud moment with you and your family in the coming weeks’ activities, culminating in the Class of 2021 Commencement Ceremony.

Graduation will take place on Friday, May 28, 2021 at the Wrangler Stadium at 8:00 P.M., weather permitting. Please arrive early as the processional will start promptly at 8:00 P.M.  Graduates are to report to their assigned locker room in the Field House on the night of the ceremony by 6:30 P.M. to line up for the processional.  We ask our graduates to be mindful of the expectations set forth by the Governing Board and the WHS Administration as follows:

    •  Graduation is a formal event and graduates and their guests are to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the solemnity of the occasion. Beach balls, blow horns, noisemakers and other forms of excessive celebration are not allowed.
    •  Students may not change the appearance of their cap & gown. Young men are to wear collared shirts, dress pants, dress shoes and a tie.  Young ladies should wear a dress or slacks and blouse. You may not wear athletic shoes, sandals, shorts, T-shirts or denim.
    • Students who are not dressed appropriately or who have made alterations to their cap and gown may forfeit the privilege of participating in the commencement ceremony. Once again, graduates may NOT wear denim.

We appreciate your support in making this event formal and respectful for everyone involved.  Clothing will be inspected prior to the ceremony.

Mandatory graduation practice will be held at 8:00 A.M. on May 26th, 8:00 A.M. on May 27th, 8:00 A.M. on May 28th if needed. On May 27th we will go through the entire ceremony:  lining up, processional, appropriate times to stand and sit, receiving the diploma, and moving the tassels. Students who do not participate in scheduled practices will forfeit the privilege of participating in the commencement ceremony. Also, please note that students are expected to provide their own transportation to and from scheduled practices.

Each senior will be given six tickets for the event, which includes limited seating on the field and in the bleachers. There may be a limited number of extra tickets available to accommodate special circumstances.  Extra tickets must be requested from Mrs. Wood in my office (or via email at:  twood@wusd9.org) and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.  In addition, we are planning to stream the event so those that are unable to attend or travel due to the circumstances will have the opportunity to view the ceremony online.

We ask that everyone remain in their seats, or use the designated area on the field, while taking pictures during the ceremony to avoid disrupting the ceremony or blocking other spectators’ views.   Instead, you are encouraged to take pictures of your graduate before and after the ceremony.  Packages of prints taken by a professional photographer will be available for purchase on the photographer’s website.

After the ceremony, diploma certificates will be distributed in the concession area.   Students who owe textbooks, late fees, or other requirements for graduation will not be permitted to participate in graduation if their obligations have not been met prior to May 24th. .

The Senior Baccalaureate is scheduled for Monday, May 24th at the Del E. Webb Center for Performing Arts at 7:00 P.M.  A Grad Night party hosted by parents of graduates will follow the ceremony on May 28th from 10:00 PM to 3:00 AM at Flying E Ranch.

Of course plans could change due to the circumstances we are facing with the COVID pandemic as the, practice, senior activities, and ceremony near.  Any changes will be communicated to graduates and/or families if determined necessary.

Congratulations to all of our graduates and families.  We hope that this landmark occasion in your life will be enjoyed safely and remembered fondly.

    Respectfully,

    Respetuosamente,

Grad Night Parent Committee

  • The Senior Class of 2021 at Wickenburg High School is an exceptional group of students.  Sober Grad Night provides a special time – maybe the last time – to be with high school friends to talk, share and have a good time celebrating the completion of high school.   This night is a fun, supervised and sober graduation celebration for all Wickenburg High School graduating seniors.   Sober Grad Night takes place immediately following the Wickenburg High graduation ceremonies, May 28, 2021 at Flying E Ranch in Wickenburg.

The Senior Parent Committee was formed to raise money for this event and we are in need of volunteers.  The Senior Parent Committee also sponsors the Senior Class Trip- volunteers are needed to help plan this as well.    These events are solely organized and funded byParent Group efforts. If you are interested in volunteering for either, please contact Casey Gipe at cgipe@wusd9.org
