Degrees and Certifications:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, University of South Florida in Tampa Florida, Masters in Theological Studies,Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Scottsdale, Arizona.
I was born in Jackson, Mississippi but grew up in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida in Tampa Florida, and a Masters in Theological Studies from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in Scottsdale, Arizona.
After High School I joined the Navy and spent a tour in Vietnam on the USS Dennis J. Buckley, DD808. It was in the Navy that I learned the discipline I so desperately needed. It was in the Navy that I also realized what I wanted to do with my life and so I pursued my Engineering degree.
After graduation I went to work as an engineer at the Joseph Farley Nuclear Plant where my responsibilities included installation of raceway in the Auxiliary Building. From there I was transferred to a coal fired plant under construction outside of Cincinnati, Ohio. Being from the south I decided I never wanted to work in the cold again so I sought a job at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. I spent twenty years there working in various Quality Assurance and Maintenance jobs, my favorite being Section Leader of Predictive Maintenance.
After retirement I began earnestly working in the Cabinetmaking and Woodworking Industry. I loved every minute of it and so opened Penick’s Custom Woodworking, a small one man business. I still spend as much time as possible in my shop but find my current interest as a teacher takes most of my time.
I have been married to Ginger Penick for thirty eight years and we have two children and nine grandchildren.
I am available for students and/or parents from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm Monday – Thursday and can be reached at:
