Wickenburg Unified School District Announces Superintendent Finalists
The Wickenburg Unified School District (WUSD) Governing Board has announced two finalists in its search for the district’s next superintendent. The search is being conducted in partnership with the Arizona School Boards Association, which is leading the process in collaboration with the Governing Board.
Following a comprehensive review and screening process, the Governing Board selected Dr. Michael Sivertson and Mr. James P. Scott as the final candidates.
Dr. Sivertson currently serves as Principal of Youngker High School in the Buckeye Union High School District. He brings more than 20 years of experience in public education, including leadership roles at both the school and district levels. His background includes instructional leadership, staff development, facilities planning and a strong focus on student achievement and school culture.
Mr. Scott currently serves as the Executive Director of Business Services for WUSD. He brings extensive experience in district operations, finance and educational leadership, along with prior leadership roles at the Arizona Department of Education and in school districts across the state. His work has focused on strengthening organizational systems, supporting school improvement efforts and ensuring sound fiscal stewardship.
The Governing Board will host a Meet and Greet and Q&A session to provide staff, families and community members an opportunity to meet the finalists and learn more about their leadership experience.
The event will take place on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026 at the Del E. Webb Center, located at 1090 S. Vulture Mine Road in Wickenburg.
The Meet and Greet will be held from 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM, followed by a Q&A session from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Final-round interviews with the Governing Board will also take place that day as part of the superintendent selection process.
The Governing Board values community input and looks forward to hearing from staff, families and community members as the district moves forward in selecting its next superintendent.
